Actor Kim SeungWoo, Kim MinJung, Oh JiHo and Sooyoung were cast in new upcoming drama ‘The 3rd Hospital’.

Through news release on March 20th, tvN revealed that the casting of new Monday-Tuesday drama ‘The 3rd Hospital’ has been confirmed. ‘The 3rd Hospital’, expected to hit the airwaves in July, is a production of Taewon Entertainment.

“The 3rd Hospital” is a drama set in a neurosurgery department of an alternative hospital which adopts both western and oriental medical practices. The drama outlines the competition that took place among neurosurgeons who challenge one another to cure their patients using various western and oriental medical methods. This new-concept medical drama will be the first of its kind in Korea.

Although the methods are different, the doctors adopting the western and oriental practices have the same burning passion – to cure the patients of their illness. This drama is expected to impress and at the same time touch the hearts of the viewers.

Kim SeungWoo will be playing the calm neurosurgeon ‘DooHyun’, who practices western medicine and is overflowing with charisma while Kim MinJung who will be taking the role as the main female lead, plays the resident neurosurgeon.

In addition, Girls’ Generation’s member Sooyoung will play the role of ‘WeeJin’, a violist who got into a 4-cornered romance involving Kim SeungWoo, Kim MinJung and Oh JiHo. With her role in the drama, Sooyoung is expected to give off a very different and unique charm.

As the casting of both the male and female leads have already been been completed, the pre-production process of ‘The 3rd Hospital’ will start at the beginning of April and the broadcast is expected to kick off by the end of July this year.

In the newly announced list of nominees for the MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2012 (MTV VMAJ 2012), Girls’ Generation was nominated for two awards; Best Video of the Year for their hit single ‘Mr. Taxi’ and Best Album of the Year for their first Japanese album ‘Girls’ Generation’.

For the two awards, Girls’ Generation were nominated along big names such as Coldplay, Lady Gaga, Red Hot Chili Peppers, EXILE and more.

Like its counterpart in the US, the MTV VMAJ awards artists for their songs and videos through online voting. This time around, the online voting has begun since March 19th and will go on until June 8th. The revenues recorded by SM Entertainment’s artistes in the past 3 years have garnered huge attention recently.

According to the electronic disclosure system of the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) on March 12th, through the disclosure data of SM Entertainment’s investment prospectus dated March 6th, it was revealed that Girls’ Generation have recorded sales revenue of 17.003 billion won in 2009, 30.044 billion won in 2010 and 21.737 billion won up to the 3rd quarter of 2011.

From 2009 to the 3rd quarter of 2011, the girls have garnered a total revenue amounting to 68.811 billion won. If 4th quarter of 2011 were to be included, it would have surpassed 70 billion won. The figure would go beyond the 100 billion won mark if Girls’ Generation’s Japanese activities were also taken into account.
