The song and music video was recorded in the pre-Gee era and it certainly was nostalgic seeing the girls in the Gee-like colorful skinny jeans as well as the simple white shirt and blue jeans ensemble! Check out the music video and don’t forget to support the song on iTunes and Korean online music sites such as MelOn, Bugs!, Mnet, Olleh Music and Soribada.
Meanwhile, a teaser of the new album was included at the end of the music video and the official Girls’ Generation website has been updated with the theme of the new album ‘I Got A Boy’. Teaser images of Hyoyeon were also released today, making fans anticipate their comeback more than ever.
It was also revealed that the 4th album will include songs, which showcase Girls’ Generation’s past, present and new styles.

Have you seen our music video for ‘Dancing Queen’ that was released not too long ago? I don’t know if it’s because we’re seeing ourselves from then for the first time in a while, but memories started coming back to me; it felt new and unusual. And so, I came here today to teach everyone to enjoy the ‘Dancing Queen’ music video 100 times more. I’m going to be teaching you this cat dance. You can follow along with the cat dance, which is the main point of ‘Dancing Queen’, by making a cat paw-like shape, and move like this, like a cat trying to act cute. It’s really easy, right? Along with ‘Dancing Queen’, please continue to give ‘I Got A Boy’ and our new album lots and lots of love. Thank you!”

On December 28th, Girls’ Generation came in second in a survey for “The Most Outstanding Singer of the Year” conducted by Gallup Korea on 4,157 participants from the ages 13 to 59.
The surveys were conducted using the interview method during different periods of the year, namely from May 2nd to 16th, September 12th to 26th and November 15th to 30th.
It was no surprise that PSY came in first place (24.4%) this year with his hugely successful ‘Gangnam Style’. In 2012, Girls’ Generation (with a total votes of 19.8%), however, had little promotions as a group in Korea after ‘The Boys’ in the previous year but instead, they had subunit activities (TaeTiSeo with ‘Twinkle’) and individual activities in dramas, musicals and variety shows. Big Bang came in third with 9.5% followed by IU (6.9%) and Jang YoonJung (6.6%).
This is also not the first time we saw Girls’ Generation on Gallup Korea’s list of “The Most Outstanding Singer of the Year”. Girls’ Generation came in fourth in 2007 and 2008 before topping the list from 2009 to 2011. From the results of the survey, we can also see that Girls’ Generation topped the survey for participants in their 20s while Big Bang topped the teenage category and PSY topped the 30-50s age groups.
TaeTiSeo’s ‘Twinkle’ was also chosen 4th as “The Best Song of the Year” with PSY’s ‘Gangnam Style’ taking first, followed by Sistar’s ‘Alone’ and Busker Busker’s ‘Cherry Blossom Ending’. Girls’ Generation’s ‘Gee’, ‘Hoot’, ‘Oh!’ and ‘The Boys’ appeared on the list in previous years.
Meanwhile, Busker Busker and Ailee were voted to be the “Best Newcomers of the Year”.

Girls’ Generation was ranked 7th in Oricon’s ’2012 Annual Total Sales by Artist’ chart. Among the Korean singers plying their trades in Japan, the girls have recorded the highest number of sales in the year 2012.
On December 19th, Oricon officially published the annual singles and album sales ranking for 2012, calculated from December 26th, 2011 to December 17th, 2012.
According to the records published, the ranking of the artists were determined based on total sales from singles, studio albums, CD, DVD, blu-ray and etc. Girls’ Generation came in 7th after registering sales amounting to 4.332 billion Yen (55 billion Won).
Meanwhile, Girls’ Generation will be kicking off their ’2013 Girls’ Generation Arena Tour’ at Niigata, Japan.
On December 20th, through the official Girls’ Generation and SMTown Twitter accounts, a mysterious teaser image with the caption ’2012.12.21. 10AM’ was posted, revealing what is believed to be the date and time of the release of Girls’ Generation’s new song and the anticipation of fans intensified.
Meanwhile, SM Entertainment said, “As Girls’ Generation is busy preparing for their activities next year, they will not be able to participate in the award ceremonies and music festivals at the end of this year. Final preparation for the upcoming album is being carried out.”
This year, Taeyeon, Tiffany and Seohyun released ‘Twinkle’ as a unit group ‘Girls’ Generation – TTS’ and have been receiving a lot of love but it seems rather impossible to see them at this year’s award ceremonies due to their comeback preparations.
Meanwhile, Girls’ Generation are planning to officially venture into the US market next year. SM USA and Interscope Records are currently making preparations for Girls’ Generations’ activities in the US.

MBC will be airing a special show in January 2013 to commemorate Girls’ Generation’s comeback.
According to some individuals in the broadcasting industry, MBC is currently in preparation for a special broadcast for Girls’ Generation, who are preparing for their comeback in January next year.
On December 11th, OSEN was told, “While MBC is preparing for Girls’ Generation’s comeback show, the details on the broadcast as well as the actual date have not been confirmed. However, it is known to be scheduled for broadcast some time in January.”
In preparation for the special broadcast on Girls’ Generation’s comeback, MBC has already set up the ‘comeback broadcast team’ since last month. The special broadcast program is an independent program and it will not be broadcasted as part of the music program ‘Show! Music Core’. Typically, whenever popular artists make their comebacks, they will be given about 10 minutes on music programs but it is a rare case for artists to have an independent comeback broadcast like what MBC is preparing to do for Girls’ Generation’s upcoming comeback.
This is indeed the reflection of the great interest shown towards Girls’ Generation’s comeback. Meanwhile, ever since the release of their 3rd album ‘The Boys’ on October 19th, 2011, Girls’ Generation had been focusing on unit group (TTS)’s activities, individual activities as well as promoting their new releases in Japan. The girls are currently preparing for their 4th Korean album which is scheduled for release in January 2013.
With their mini album ‘Twinkle’, Girls’ Generation – TTS has been nominated in several categories of the upcoming 27th Golden Disk Awards, namely the Disk Album Award, Digital Music Award and Popularity Award.
The 27th Golden Disk Awards will be held at the Sepang International Circuit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on January 15th and 16th, 2013. Being one of the most prestigious award ceremony in South Korea, this event is expected to be attended by more than 20 groups of Kpop artistes, who will perform or receive their awards.
Tickets for the two-day event is priced at RM688 for Rockpit and RM999 for the Samsung Galaxy Zone for two-day access while early birds who buy their tickets starting from December 9th to 15th will get a discounted price of RM620 and RM898 for each zone respectively.
Some of the other artistes nominated in the 27th Golden Disk Awards include TVXQ, 2AM, 2NE1, f(x), BEAST, Big Bang, CN Blue, Epik High, FT Island, KARA, Infinite, SHINee, MBLAQ, Sistar, Psy, Miss A, Super Junior, Wonder Girls and more.
Meanwhile, the previous Golden Disk Awards was also held outside of Korea earlier this year at Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan where Girls’ Generation won the Digital Daesang Award for the ‘The Boys’. Girls’ Generation have also won Daesangs consecutively on previous occasions; Digital Daesang in 2009 for ‘Gee’ and Disk Daesang in 2010 with ‘Oh!’

On December 5th 23 years ago, a baby girl was born.
Her name is Kwon Yuri, and 23 years later, she is not just a tanned-skin baby but she is also a sparkling black pearl. She grew up to be a young girl with big dreams; she was accepted into SM Entertainment through a contest in 2001 and trained for almost 6 years to finally debut in a now globally successful girl group, Girls’ Generation.
If there is one word I could pick to describe her it would be,
sexyabs determination. Even though she has heavily-packed schedules as a hallyu star, she managed to find time to enroll into university. It wasn’t just enrolling though – she actually went to classes and sat for her exams just like others without any special treatment whenever she can between schedules. She brought her notes with her to revise at any spare time through her busy schedule. The word ‘excuse’ does not exist in Yuri’s dictionary.
“Always hold on to your dream and do your best. Find out what you like to do and want to do and make an effort.” – Yuri
Sexy is a four letter word: Y-U-R-I. I just couldn’t write an article without mentioning this important quality about her. Her solo performance ‘If’ during the second tour was a solid evidence of it. The way she danced to the song, filled with confidence and oozing with charisma, she created a new definition of sexy, which is Yuri.
Her drool-worthy body served as motivation for everyone (like pasting it on the wall in front of their treadmills) but it is not just a perfectly-curved body.
It is also the symbol of hard work, a lot of it.
“Sooyoung’s body looks natural, while Yuri’s body looks like she put a lot of work and effort into making it.” – Sean Lee, trainer
She diets, she does yoga, she goes to gym late at night or early in the morning and she does 600 sit-ups to earn her chiseled abs and toned legs. It takes an amazing level of discipline for one to do such thing. Discipline level: Yuri.
Whenever she strolls through airport, regardless whether it is in summer, winter or rainy days, all she has to do is to put on her shades and all the fans will die a little inside. She emits her own aura and vibe, whether it is with her handsome boyish look in leather jacket and plaid shirts, or her girl-next-door look in simple white tee, cardigan, and skirt, she always manages to look cool somehow.
But don’t let what you see fool you because beneath it all is a dorky young lady. She was not ashamed to embarrass herself if it makes other people laugh like when she did her infamous lion pose in ‘Invincible Youth’. She knew that it will make her look less pretty but she did it anyway.
If we could capture happiness and put it in a shape or form, it would be Kwon Yuri. She is indeed a happy pill. During concerts, you can see her bouncing happily around the stage as if she never runs out of energy. She does everything she could to make her fans happy, even if it means that she has to learn multiple languages to greet them. She will try to speak the language even if it means she has to bring colorful small notes on stage and pronounce them wrongly despite her best tries. So it’s no wonder that she is the most multilingual out of the group. (LOL)
Yuri referring to her notes on stage during the SMTown concert in Bangkok a few weeks ago.
One of the instances when she showed off her flawless language skills was through her drama, ‘Fashion King’.
“I want to become a genuine and pure person who has no false images built up around her. I think that if I can become that kind of a person, I will naturally become a genuine and pure actress as well.” – Yuri
‘Fashion King’ is her first drama where she played one of the main characters – the cold and arrogant Choi Anna. Yuri successfully showcased her professionalism through the character. Even though it was a bit stiff initially, she managed to portray more emotions as the drama progressed and even wowed the audience with her real kiss scene with actor Lee Jae Hoon. The producers and the public had nothing but praises for her, “Yuri did well for her first time. She exceeded our expectations, there’s a lot of fire in her.”
“There’s nothing more to do than to work hard to fill what I lack.” – Yuri
Kwon Yuri is a singer, a talented dancer, a learning actress and a hardworking student. Seeing her makes us feel like we can achieve anything as long as we put our heart and soul into it.
“I feel like my strength is always thinking positively regardless of the situations I am in and I can always prepare my body and mind to give out positive energy.” – Yuri
Happy birthday to our dearest sexy and dorky Kwon Yuri! She turned a year older today so everyone, let’s celebrate it with a toast of Ma juice and 50 sit-ups! No cheating!
