Hello~ this is SNSD’s maknae Seohyun^^
Today is the day we SNSD turn 4 years old~!
In these 4 years.. Those enjoyable moments, happy moments, and difficult moments..
Because all nine of us have SONEs with us, although it is a long time, when we look back, every day was special filled with precious experiences, and that is how we could go through it all..
From young, immature girls who didn’t know anything, we have grown up making many of our dreams come true in the 4 years.
Learnt a lot, and felt a lot.
Although we still lack many things, you all still support us all the time with one heart. For that, I sincerely feel very thankful..
It’s only been 4 years!!
We want to make bigger dreams come true through the strengths received from your love!!
SONEs! Until SNSD becomes 40 years old..
I hope we can make memories together.. Forever^^
With SNSD in your lives, and SONEs in ours,
We’ve been very happy, and until the day we can reminisce..!

Hehe I love you,
- From Sooyoung, who thinks that it would be nice if some genius SONEs translate and spread this to overseas SONEs who will also be celebrating the 4th Anniversary from far away.. (blush)
Waaaaaahhh It’s the 4th year already^^^^^^!!!!
What I felt about the speed of time and what our fans feel would be the same right?!
Our hearts are so close to each other…
That we know each other even without confirming, right^^?! Yoyoyoyoyo!!
Fast, isnt it?!!..right?!
Actually, I thought it was really fast when it was our 1st anniversary… but we had 4 times of that time together.. wooowww we have really grown a lot.
The memories we shared, or the depth of our thoughts for each other..
I am really grateful.. to the extent I can’t even describe it in words…!
You have no idea how happy and thankful it is for me to have people who support me no matter what I do or where I am.
You know, a little while ago when I was looking at our girls~ members^^!
I looked through their feet~it made me a bit teary~ㅠ-ㅠ
When we run around in heels during a three-hour long performance and practicing,
We end up hurting our feet and sometimes we feel like our bodies are going to crash..
Then it might bleed and bruise, sometimes even breaks~^^
But again.. I told myself that it’s just something that we do..
And I saw our members’ feet that can’t get worse and their calluses~
When I looked into them they were actually all ruined~
Even the shape.. The toe nails.. Unlike the beginning when they were all soft and nice..
But even like this we must show ourselves, and it’s because of the strong sense of responsibility in us, we tried our best to cover up the scars of different colors^^
And.. After 10 hours of long flight, even when we couldn’t help it but carry our swollen faces and bodies, even when we show our teeth and smile in front of the splash of flashes with our exhausted body, and the little pain I saw when we express our gratitude towards the fans smiling and supporting us…
Pain.. pain..?! No! It’s cute pain!
Letting us feel that such trivial inconvenience…and complaints.. As cute pain..
Fans who allowed it to not be pain itself because it’s cute pain..
And fans who supported us, even only for once..
Thank you so much!!
To these hearts… I would really like to repay them.
It would take me my lifetime to give all the love back..^^?!
And because I think it would take at least 14 years for you to enjoy what I’ve given back..
Stay by our side till then.. Ok?! Thank you and thank you again and again and again!
Our members, our staffs, please love them all~~~~~
I’m going to do that too^^!! Yap
UPDATE 1: From Jessica on August 7th
It’s already our 4th anniversary~ It seems that time flies so quickly~
The fans who gave us so much love~ and also our SONEs who I think of a lot!
To our members whom I don’t have to say a word^^*
Thank you for the times we shared and let’s have many many good memories!!
umm~Hopefully, SNSD’s songs and my voice would be like vitamins to everyone~

Today August 5th, may be any typical day to most of the world’s six billion-strong population. However, to a group of nine girls and their countless fans, SONEs, worldwide, today is a day worthy of celebrations.
On August 5th exactly four years ago, a group of nine teenage girls; Kim Taeyeon, Jessica Jung, Sunny Lee, Tiffany Hwang, Kim Hyoyeon, Kwon Yuri, Choi Sooyoung, Im YoonA and Seo Juhyun, made their debut in the Kpop industry with an almost cringe-worthy name, 소녀시대, Girls’ Generation or simply abbreviated as SNSD.
Over a time span of four years and through tears and joy, the girls have proven skeptics wrong as they were initially labelled “merely” as the female version of their sunbaes Super Junior.
Their debut song ‘Into the New World’, perhaps one of the most memorable song to the girls and fans alike, was performed for the first time on August 5th, 2007, and till this day, this date carries a special meaning as the debut of Asia’s most popular girl group today.
Throughout the years, the girls have remained strong and supported each other through every ups and downs. As a result, their hardwork and determination paid off and they have since won numerous music chart wins with most (if not all) of their title songs; from ‘Into the New World’, ‘Kissing You’, ‘Gee’, ‘Oh!’, ‘Run Devil Run’, ‘Hoot’ just to name a few. Of course, one of the most memorable winning streak would be ‘Gee’ with 9 consecutive wins on KBS Music Bank’s K-Chart.
The girls have also went on to receive some of the most prestigious music awards in the country such as Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Female Group, Bonsangs, Daesangs, Digital Music Awards, Popularity Award, Hallyu Special Award and many, many more from the likes of Melon Music Awards, KBS Music Bank K-Chart, Seoul Music Awards, GaOn Chart Awards, Korean Music Awards, Hanteo, as well as awards from online music providers such as Bugs, Dosirak and Soribada.
And that is not even including the record breaking sales in Japan and the sell-out Arena Tour just one year about their debut in a foreign country.
But all these glamorous achievements aside, what makes these nine girls so much more successful from their peers?
Talk to any SONE and they are mostly likely to tell you about the strong, family-like Soshibond. The nine girls perspired and work together as one to achieve their dreams and none of this would be possible if their relationships and bonds were not strong. They cry and laugh together, they supported each other through everything they do and have to go through.
Other than their strong bond, these girls remain humble even with their title as Asia’s most popular girl group and with numerous hits under their name. How often do we see successful stars give ninety-degree bows to staff working with them or to their seniors without putting up the air of a superstar? Bowing is not just an act, it is an attitude, one that the girls have kept up well even after four years.
Personally, I did not get to know about Kpop until about a little more than two years back when I heard ‘Gee’ and other songs in variety shows. I was intrigued and looked up these songs and I got to know about Kpop generally but somehow SNSD managed to leave a deep impression among other Kpop groups of the time and one thing led to another before I became a self-claimed dedicated SONE and the rest is history.
In the beginning, I thought to myself, I will NEVER be able to tell these nine dorky girls apart but hey, little did I know, I am writing about them and their fourth anniversary today.
SNSD has changed the lives of SONEs in so many ways that it is almost impossible to elaborate. Through them, SONEs are united across the globe and we make friends regardless of borders through the internet communities and through means such as Twitter.
SNSD are so deeply embedded in our lives that we are extra-sensitive when we come across anything (words, phrases, names, etc) related to them and our typing fingers auto-complete words linked to them instinctively, like how I will always complete “girls” with “generation” or like how the alphabets “SNSD” comes so naturally together.
On a lighter note, check out the descriptions of the nine unique girls by email@example.com.
Kim Taeyeon, the “Appa” of Girls’ Generation. Forever the best leader in the whole universe. Protector of Tiffany Hwang.
Jessica Jung, the decider for every Girls’ Generation debates, most fashionable airport member.
Sunny Lee, the caretaker and protector for Girls’ Generation. Aegyo’s still bearable for me.
Tiffany Hwang, the “Umma” of Girls’ Generation. The perfect angel that walks among us on Earth.
Kim Hyoyeon, the mood maker of Girls’ Generation. Even the ice princess is taken by her humor and carefree image.
Kwon Yuri, the eldest “son” and prankster of Girls’ Generation. Sexy but extremely dorky, in a very very good way.
Choi Sooyoung, the official spokesperson of Girls’ Generation. Her angel heart is as big as her appetite for food. Shikshin!
Im Yoona, the 2nd son of Girls Generation. Flawless on the inside and outside. Heart as big as her alligator mouth.
Seo Juhyun, the maknae and fave child of Girls’ Generation. There’s nothing she can’t do. Determination is her motto.
In conjunction with the 4th anniversary, a project titled ‘Virtual Museum of Girls’ Generation’ was set up on http://intothenewworld.net, which was inspired by Sooyoung’s words on their official website which goes like this, “I hope that modern history textbook is changed to the history of SNSD.”
The multi-lingua Virtual Museum, which will open today, will contain the history of the girls, as well as the activity of SONEs. Be sure to check it out later today!
Also in celebration of the 4th anniversary, SONEs worldwide started to tweet their best wishes hours prior to midnight and the phrases ‘Girls’ Generation’, ‘#SNSD4thAnni’ and ‘SNSD4thAnni’ trended on the worldwide trending list in Twitter! At the time of writing, ‘Girls’ Generation’ and ‘SNSD4thAnni’ are still trending strongly on the worldwide trending list as well as the trending lists for many countries.
As we come to the end of this article, all of us from the Fanwonder.com family would like to send our heartiest congratulations to the girls of SNSD for their 4th anniversary as well as to the SONEs worldwide, who are celebrating the joyous occasion today!
지금은 소녀시대! 앞으로도 소녀시대! 영원히 소녀시대!
Right now, it’s Girls’ Generation! From now on, it’s Girls’ Generation! Forever, Girls’ Generation!

In conjunction of Seohyun’s birthday and also Sports Korea’s 7th anniversary, an interview with SNSD’s maknae was conducted. Here is the content of the interview:
SK: First of all, happy birthday.
Seohyun: Thank you. Happy birthday to Sports Korea too.
SK: Do you know there is a special bond between yourself and Sports Korea?
Seohyun: I was surprised to hear about that in the past. I think the reason is because Sports Korea always writes good articles. Haha.
SK: How did you feel?
Seohyun: I thought that this is the kind of fate we wanted. In the future, please watch over me. Am I being too serious? Haha.
SK: We made a collection of articles from SNSD’s debut to the present day. We want to give you this as a birthday gift.
Seohyun: Wah! It’s first time I’ve seen this. (silently read the articles for some time) This is something new as I used to only see this on the internet. You’re really giving this to me! This is an unforgettable birthday gift. I have to show this to my unnies.
SK: It feels as if this is the first individual interview you had after debut was yesterday.
Seohyun: That’s right. Then, I knew nothing. I didn’t know what to talk about and what kind of article will be produced.
SK: (Points at the article) seeing your appearances during debut, how do you feel about it? Do you feel shy or feel like hiding?
Seohyun: Not at all. The bangs made me look really cute. It’s good to look at my old appearance again.
SK: In the past, you mentioned in an interview that you would like to act in a Japanese drama.
Seohyun: I still have that dream now. I was into ‘Nodame Cantabile’ last time and recently I’m interested in ‘Glow of The Fireflies’. I hope there will be a day when I get to act in a Japanese drama.
SK: At that time, you have not embarked on your Japanese activities. Looking at these articles, it seemed as if SNSD’s advancement to Japan was predicted.
Seohyun: Haha. That’s awesome. It was a dream that became a reality. Although we worked hard to achieve that goal, i think people around us also helped us. The name ‘Girls’ Generation’ itself contains a dream, right? It’s none other than establishing an era where girls’ shine in the whole world. From ‘Girls’ Generation’ to the time when it becomes ‘Grandmothers’ Generation’, let’s do it together.
SK: When was your most memorable moment?
Seohyun: It was during our first broadcasted performance where I stood with the members on stage and we cried. I thought it was finally the day we show ourselves to the world after the hardships we endured during the trainee days. I think I will never forget those moments. Looking at the past interview, I felt amazed and decided that we should not forget about our original intentions. However, unknowingly, there have been changes among us bit by bit. That is what I’m afraid the most. I’ll try to stay the same always.
SK: Recently, there were a lot of talks about the concert in Paris. Is the Korean Wave a reality?
Seohyun: Yes, definitely. Due to the continuous efforts by the seniors, it seems that the Korean Wave are getting the attention now. We don’t think it’s something that comes out of a sudden. I think we are lucky that we are carrying out our activities now. We also have to be sensitive to the responsibility at hand. We have to open the path now so that in the future, others can embark on their overseas activities more successfully.
SK: What is the individual work that is memorable to you?
Seohyun: I did a duet with Joo HyunMi sunbaenim. It’s because she is someone my parents like. I could not believe I had a chance to do a duet with her and I was really nervous. She held my hand throughout our performance and that was how I was able to complete it. Thinking about it now, I’m really thankful to her.
SK: Since you debuted at a young age, are there any complications?
Seohyun: The difficult part is that every single action or issues, even if it’s really a small one, people would take notice. I have to be very careful with anything I do. Now that I’m used to it, I feel very thankful even if someone take a small interest in me.
SK: It’s Sports Korea’s 7th anniversary. Would you like to say something?
Seohyun: It’s always nice meeting reporters from Sports Korea. Are you going to be hardworking and trustworthy? Please give us good articles in the future. How about always giving good news about SNSD too? Greetings to you all. Please stay tune.
