Happy SUNNY Day!

May 14, 2012

It’s 515 again! The bright SUNNY day has arrived. 23 years ago today, a cute and talented girl named Lee SoonKyu was born. Like her stage name, she is the sunshine and the energy pill to everyone around her and because of her, everyday is a sunny day in our hearts regardless of where we are and how the weather changes.

Whether it’s calling for punches or collar grabs, no one could resist her heart-melting excessive aegyo and her brighter-than-the-sun smiles. What makes her even cuter is her shy personality in real life. Deep within the playful girl that she is, Sunny has shown great maturity and determination in everything she does. Don’t mess up with this girl though. Maknae Seohyun once warned that her Sunny unnie looks scary when she’s angry.

Although small in stature, do not underestimate this cheerful girl as things that she can do and achieve would definitely wow you big time. Through KBS 2TV ‘Invincible Youth’ particularly, her variety talent and skills are well-acknowledged. Among the G8 members who were cast in season 1, Sunny is the only member to appear in the second season of the variety program. To fans, viewers and PD alike, Sunny’s contribution and experience to the program is hugely significant.

From catching chicken and fish to MC-ing for MTV Music Island, Sunny continues to impress through something she has never done before, a musical appearance. Alternating her role as Nurse Brenda in the musical ‘Catch Me If You Can’ with CSJH The Grace’s Dana and Choi WooRi, Sunny has once again proved that nothing could stop her from being an all-rounder. Even before her musical ended on May 12th, Sunny was nominated for ‘The Best Female Newcomer Award’ at ‘The 6th Musical Award’ for her role as Brenda in ‘Catch Me If You Can’. We hope that our Aegyo Queen would take home the award as it will definitely serves as an encouragement for her to advance further in the musical field.

Like other Girls’ Generation members such as YoonA, Jessica, Yuri and Sooyoung, it would be nice to see Sunny in a drama as well. As there is nothing this girl cannot do, We are pretty sure that she will pull it off excellently. Sunny’s energy, confidence, perseverance, hardwork and level of maturity on top of her irresistible aegyo have been the source of inspiration to all, not only her fellow Soshi sisters and SONEs. Therefore, It does not come as a surprise that SoonKyu is receiving lots of love and respect from everyone she has been working with.

fanwonder.com would like to take this opportunity to wish our beloved Lee SoonKyu a happy and blessed 23rd birthday. May all your dreams and wishes come true always. Thank you for being such an inspiration and also for your unconditional love towards SONEs. We love you too.

Happy 썬탄절 everyone!

To the one and only Jessica Jung, Happy Birthday!

April 17, 2012

23 years ago, a baby girl was born. 23 years later, this baby girl has grown into a matured and gorgeous young woman. She is, of course, none other than the Jessica Jung we have grown to know and love.

More commonly known as the Ice Princess, Jessica often comes across as being cold and unfriendly due to her short attention span. She seems to be easily bored and is usually seen playing with the ends of her hair or her phone, which seemed inseparable from the owner especially in airports. However, in the recent Japanese variety show Mechamecha Iketeru’s hidden camera, Jessica can be seen smiling brightly as she interacts with the rest of the girls, revealing her true personality.

Her somewhat odd personality is what makes Jessica so unique and endearing. On one hand, she can be seen giggling away like a teenage girl among the rest of the Girls’ Generation members. On the other hand, she can be calm and composed, choosing not to say much during group interviews. At times, she’s lost in her own world while the rest of the girls are being interviewed. However, she opens up when doing solo interviews because she feels that fans would pay close attention to what she has to say.

In addition, Jessica often showed off her close relationship with her sister, Krystal when she gave Krystal a kiss in front of everyone during the ending of one of the year end programs, where even Krystal was taken aback by her sister’s open display of affection. She also appeared as a guest to show her support for her sister when Krystal was on SBS’s skating reality program ‘Kiss & Cry’. Jessica is not only supportive of her sister but she is also protective of her and has mentioned in previous interviews that she regrets not being able to spend more time with her.

One famous trademark of Jessica is her smirk. Her smirk melts hearts of SONEs and her winks are ‘to die for’. Blessed with a good figure, Jessica looks gorgeous no matter what she wears. Being a fashionista, Jessica never fails to amaze during their numerous trips at the airports. During the 2011 MAMA, she revealed her voluptuous figure when she graced the red carpet

Recently Jessica has challenged herself in the world of acting by participating in KBS2’s drama ‘Wild Romance’. Jessica’s character is known as Kang Jonghee, a painter who bites people she cares about, loves her cat, and is bipolar. The twists and turns in the story plot enabled Jessica to show off her acting skills. In addition, Jessica teamed up with rapper Kim Jin Pyo to sing a song called ‘Maybe’ for the drama’s OST. Her bright and cheerful voice appeared to be made for the upbeat rhythm of the song.

Being one of the main vocalists in the group, Jessica’s singing has improved through the years. Departing from her usual bright and cutesy voice, Jessica sang an emotional love song ‘Because Tears Are Overflowing’ for the KBS drama ‘Romance Town’. Her clear sorrowful voice brought up the emotions of beautiful yet sad lyrics of the song.

Appearing in various variety shows, we got to see a fun and different side of Jessica. In Running Man, we got to see our princess run and do some legwork. Her show of aegyo in the show may have caused some of us to cringe but let’s admit it, we love seeing our Ice Princess doing that. She gave new meaning to the word “STRESSED” when she used it during the show

Some of us often joked that Jessica is a part-time Girls’ Generation member and full-time model. This is partly true judging from the various magazine shoots she has been invited to. She graced the cover of CeCi and Dazed magazines, appeared in W Korea, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire and many others. She showed us the versatility of Jessica Jung, for example during the Ceci magazine shoot, where Jessica shed her usual feminine side and transformed into a cold city guy.

On this special day, let’s give our dearest Jessica a warm round of applause for her hard work and dedication she has put in for the past years. We hope she’ll have a wonderful birthday with her family, friends and the rest of the Girls’ Generation!

Happy 23rd birthday to the most uniquely endearing girl, Jessica!

Happy Birthday to the quirky and pea-loving Kim Taeyeon!

March 8, 2012

After a highly successful year in 2011 of making the name ‘Girls’ Generation’ known to more diverse and widespread public around the world, March 9th is yet another special date celebrated by a group of people known as SONEs every year (as well as nine angels and their families of course).

As the first of the six ’89 babies to celebrate their 24th birthdays, Kim Taeyeon, the eldest of the group with the deceivingly never-changing baby face of hers (or looking like a ‘lost kid’ on occasions as some calls it), will turn a year ol… umm more mature in 2012 but I highly doubt if her dorkiness and ahjumma laugh will ever change.

See? No difference.

Listen to the ahjumma laugh, especially towards the end of the video ^^

While thinking of the girls’ activities in the previous year, one thing comes to mind immediately when you think specifically of our dear diva-with-childlike-complexion Ms. Kim. Peas.

Yes peas. Disney’s peas-in-a-pod to be exact. The moment Ms. Kim’s selcas with the big green peas, with the annoyingly cheerful expressions (which we grew to love, of course), surfaced online, SONEs worldwide went into a frenzy to locate these peas, which we eventually refer to fondly as dookongs or Taengpeas. And of course, needless to say, Taeyeon was continuously showered with gifts of dookongs wherever she went. (So, Disney, if you were wondering why the sales of peas shot up drastically in 2011, you now know who to thank).

In several interviews, the unique leader and spokesperson of the group (even though, officially, there are no leaders and the girls make joint decisions and all) wishes to advance into space after successfully taking over the world, making fans go like this —> o___O

We are still in the first quarter of the year but our dear fluffy leader has already tried her hand on MC-ing MBC’s Music Core with Tiffany and Seohyun (cringes at weekly dose of aegyo) and also acting in ‘Salamander Guru and the Gang’ with SHINee’s Minho. Despite being a cameo role in only one episode, I have no doubt that anyone who watched it would have gotten a deep impression (more cringing! But we love you ^^).

Also, our lovely kid leader’s professionalism also made it into the news several weeks ago, when she continued to MC professionally despite hurting her toe at the 1st GaOn Chart K-pop Awards ヽ(;▽;)ノ

On a more serious side, Taeyeon’s powerful vocals continue to amaze with time, be it during solo performances or group songs (think of the high notes in ‘The Boys’). Back in January, Taeyeon went to Japan alone without her group members for the Athena Live Stage and her heartfelt singing of the soundtracks touched many hearts.

So, as usual, on the first stroke of midnight, which marks the start of the special day of March 9th, all of us here from the Fanwonder.com family would like to wish Taeyeon a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Here’s to an awesome and fantastic 2012 and we love you! :D

Here’s an awesome birthday tribute video to conclude the post!

(p/s: What happened to the usual heartwarming birthday tributes you say? Imagine sitting in tent, stuck because of the heavy rain outside with no Internet and no power supply (thank god there is light) and listening to the falling rain and branches. Yeap, that was me when I was bored out of my mind and decided to write this.)

Choi Sooyoung, an angel from inside out

February 9, 2012

With the fresh start of every year, the first date SONEs look forward to is most definitely February 10th. Why? Because this special day marks the birthday of a special someone, who is none other than our beloved long-legged shikshin Choi Sooyoung.

As she turns 23 (22 in western age) this year, let us celebrate and give thanks to this angel walking among us and sent to us from above.

Beautiful is too mild a word to describe Sooyoung. Looking stunning in almost anything, the recent breath-taking concept in ‘The Boys’ certainly brought out her natural beauty. She looks beautiful even without putting any make-up on and even without much effort, she stood out with her model poise. Her every hair flip, winks, smiles and smirks capture fans and non-fans alike (think Simon Curtis).

Her heart is so beautiful as she consistently reach out to help the less fortunate, especially with the frequent visiting of Coach Park Seungil and other lesser known charity work. And her heart is so grateful for everything and thankful to everyone. Prior to Girls’ Generation, Sooyoung debuted as part of Route0 and that humble beginning helped to sculpt who she is today. Even though the group is at the top now, she still retains that rookie heart, grateful to every opportunity given to her and Girls’ Generation.

To God, to her family, her members, the managers, staff and SM family, she is always grateful. And especially to fans, her gratitude comes straight from the heart. Even with the accident last year, she stayed strong for her loved ones. And especially for SONE, she became the first artiste ever to make a fanmade video (FMV) of and for fans, to ensure fans that she was fine and will be back soon. Never hiding her true feelings, she always wanted to hear SONEs’ voice, the ones that bring her joy.

This heart which cherishes us so much, we cherish with all our hearts too.

We wish you a wonderful blessed birthday, and along with it, wish that you will always stay in good health, joy and may all your dreams come true. 생일축하합니다!

Happy Birthday, Tiffany!

August 1, 2011

Born Stephanie Hwang Miyoung on August 1, 1989 in San Francisco, California, SNSD’s resident eyesmile queen will be celebrating her 23rd birthday (Korean age) today!

According to the other members, Tiffany was also one of the first few members to be remembered by the public during their debut in 2007, thanks to her lovely eyesmile during their debut MV ‘Into the New World’.

The brave and lively girl insisted on her dreams, despite Daddy Hwang’s objections and came all the way to Korea from the US, where she grew up, after her audition for SM Entertainment in Los Angeles in 2004 and the rest, they say, is history.

Jessica spoke on Tiffany’s courage to pursue her dreams and said, “It was really brave of her, really. I had my whole family supporting me. They’re here with me right now, but she still doesn’t have her family here and now she’s so big, she’s so huge, here in Korea. And, I think her family would really be happy.”

The pink-loving, bug-hating Tiffany was also voted to be one of the best English speakers among Kpop idols, which came as no surprise as she grew up in the US. Check out this recent video of Tiffany speaking about Kpop in the History Channel.

Acknowledging her flaws, Tiffany often tries her best and put in more work and effort, be it in learning languages (Korean and Japanese), singing, dancing and more. It is her dedication, persistence and endless hard work that makes us admire her more than we already do, thanks to her heart of gold.

As Yoona once said, “She studies really hard. She became the MC for a music show and she felt proud and studied even harder. Everyday she would study the script and write down things she didn’t know, and ask about words she doesn’t understand and would write down the definitions.”

Although Tiffany can be quite injury-prone sometimes (I believe it pains the fans as much if not more when that happens), she always brings the best performances to public, be it solo or group acts. For instance, being a huge fan of Lady Gaga, she gave a flawless performance of her own-rendition of Poker Face on Kim JungEun’s Chocolate as seen here.

Also known to fans as Manager Hwang, Tiffany often tries her best to control the other eight fun-loving girls, to keep them in line or presentable in public, but there are times when she failed as there is only so much she can do about the girls. Check out the cute video of Manager Hwang in action here!

Hours prior to Tiffany’s birthday, SONEs worldwide started pouring in their best wishes in Twitter and “Tiffany Hwang” trended at 5th in the Twitter worldwide trending list. At the time of writing, “Tiffany Hwang” is still trending so SONEs, let’s work together and bring the name of our eyesmile queen to the top of the trending list!

Last but not least, all of us here from the Fanwonder.com family would like to wish our brighter than gems Fany Fany Tiffany a very Happy Birthday! Here’s to many more future birthdays together!
