Good news SONEs!
Mark September 18th in your calendars because Girls’ Generation will be having a couple of Japanese releases on that day!
First up is the ‘Girls’ Generation ~ Girls & Peace ~ Japan 2nd Tour’ DVDs and Blu-ray discs! It will include the 27 songs performed during the second Japan tour (song list here), the dance versions of ‘Boomerang’, ‘Reflection’, ‘I’m a Diamond’ as well as tour document movie. The limited DVD and Blu-ray editions will come with a 44-page photo booklet (both versions will be different) and a special t-shirt (size M).
The four versions of the ‘Girls’ Generation ~ Girls & Peace ~ Japan 2nd Tour’ are as follows:
Regular DVD edition is priced at ￥4,980, Limited Edition DVD (with photo booklet and special t-shirt) is ￥6,980, regular Blu-ray edition is ￥5,980 while the Limited Edition Blu-ray (with photo booklet and special t-shirt) is ￥8,240.
Meanwhile, Girls’ Generation will also release a new Japanese single ‘GALAXY SUPERNOVA’ on September 18th. The single will have ‘GALAXY SUPERNOVA’ as its title song as well as another Japanese original song ‘DO THE CATWALK’. It will come in two versions, the regular edition (￥1,260) and the Limited CD+DVD Edition (￥1,890), which comes with a DVD of the ‘GALAXY SUPERNOVA’ music video.
Girls’ Generation topped Oricon’s Weekly Singles Chart (October 8th edition) through their 5th Japanese single ‘Oh!’ which was released on September 26th with sales of about 66,000 copies throughout the first week of its release.
Besides the single’s successful release, the ‘Girls’ Generation Complete Video Collection’ DVD and Blu-ray which were released on the same day as the 5th single also topped the weekly charts of their respective divisions with sales of 40,000 copies (DVD) and 19,000 copies (Blu-ray) respectively.
With such impressive sales volume, Girls’ Generation had successfully secured the no.1 spot on 3 different divisions, making them the second artist to have achieved such a feat after Japan’s popular group, Mr. Children. Among female artists as well as foreign artists, Girls’ Generation are the first to have topped 3 divisions at the same time.
Girls’ Generation’s ‘Japan 1st Arena Tour Girls’ Generation’ DVD and Blu-ray Disc (BD) topped Oricon’s charts at the same time.
According to Oricon on December 21st, the DVD which was released on December 14th, topped the Oricon’s DVD Weekly Chart for combined category (no.1 for Music category) with sales of 69,000 copies in the first week. Also, the BD which was released on the same date, secured the no.2 spot on Oricon’s BD Weekly Chart for Combined category (no.1 for Music category) after recording sales of 37,000 copies in week 1.
With that, Girls’ Generation are the first foreign artists to top Oricon’s Weekly Chart for both DVD and BD in the Music category at the same time.
On December 19th, according to the ’44th Annual Ranking 2011 (from December 27th, 2010 to December 19th, 2011)’ released by Oricon which calculates the annual accumulative sales of singles, albums and DVDs of artists, Girls’ Generation recorded a total revenue of 4.049 billion Yen (equivalent to 60.1 billion Won), placing them in the 5th position behind AKB4B, Arashi, EXILE and Kara.
The girls’ revenue in 2011 had increased multiple fold from last year, where they charted a 880,000 million Yen (about 13.1 billion Won) revenue based on the ’43rd Oricon Annual Ranking’.
Kpop stars are showing their domination in Japan once again. The most notable one is indeed, Girls’ Generation.
Girls’ Generation’s ‘Japan 1st Arena Tour Girls’ Generation’ which was released on December 14th took the no.1 spot on December 14th’s Oricon Daily DVD Combined Chart, Blu-ray Chart and DVD Music Chart.
The ’1st Japan Arena Tour’ DVD not only dominated the Oricon charts but also Tower Records’ Daily Chart where it secured the top two positions on the chart. Girls’ Generation’s popularity in Japan is proven again as 3rd album ‘The Boys (Mr.Taxi version)’ was ranked 3rd on the same chart.
The highly anticipated ‘All About Girls’ Generation: Paradise in Phuket’ DVDs will be released in two days!
The 12-hour DVD set, co-produced by SM Entertainment and SBS Content Hub, were announced by the former on June 8 and it is set for release on June 30, in exactly two days!
The DVDs will include a variety program ‘Real Treasure’, as well as the brand new ‘Echo’ music video, which were shot in Phuket.
Besides that, the DVDs will also contain all of SNSD’s hit music videos, selected performances since their debut to present days, various SBS shows involving the girls, interviews and much more.
Prior to the release of the DVD set, two teasers were released today and previously on the 24th respectively.

The much anticipated ‘All About Girls’ Generation: Paradise in Phuket’ DVD will soon be released.
On June 8th, according to SM Entertainment, the ‘All About Girls’ Generation: Paradise in Phuket’ DVD which was co-produced by SM Entertainment and SBS Content Hub will be on sale at the end of June. The DVD invites fans to revisit the activities that took place after the girls’ debut up to the present day as well as their unique charms through special footages taken during SNSD’s trip to Phuket, Thailand in August, 2010. Together with the 6 DVDs of total running time of 715 minutes, a mini photobook will also be included.
The 12-hour DVD set contains SNSD’s hit music videos, unreleased member version of ‘Hoot’, album jackets, making films that give fans a chance to catch a glimpse of the girls during the shooting of music videos, SBS ‘Inkigayo’, ‘Kim JungEun’s Chocolate’ and various shows aired on SBS involving SNSD members.
In addition to these, there will also be a variety program called ‘Real Treasure’ and also the music video of ‘Echo’ (from 2nd Album) which were shot while they were in Phuket. Through the videos, fans will be able to witness how the girls spent and enjoyed their time in Phuket. Selcas, messages to family, members and fans as well as touching stories are all included in this must-have collection.
The Blue-Ray version of ‘All About Girls’ Generation: Paradise in Phuket’ is expected to be released in the future.

On February 8th, ‘ALL About Girls’ Generation Paradise in Phuket DVD Preview‘ will be released. This 300-page ‘photo album’ contains beautiful photos taken during the girls’ trip to Phuket, Thailand. From the airport, ‘Echo’ music video shooting, pyjama party, interview with members to paparazi photos, SNSD’s natural beauty were captured and highlighted.
Particularly, the girls portray their neat, attractive and lovely charm in white dresses, which is very different from their mature image seen in ‘Run Devil Run’ and ‘Hoot’ MV. Expectations are expected to increase as The photos brought the fans back to the ‘Into The New World’ days.

SNSD who had just debuted in Japan in September 2010, are expecting to hit the 500,000 copies mark in terms of albums and DVD sales in Japan.
According to Oricon, SNSD who released 2 singles and a DVD, recorded a total sales of 318,736 as of December 9th. The DVD entitled ‘Girls’ Generation Torai – Commemorative Edition – New Beginning of Girls’ Generation‘ sold 81,034 copies as of the date mentioned, while First Japanese Debut Single ‘Genie’ which was released on September 8th, recorded sales of 112,724 copies. 2nd Debut Single ‘Gee‘ which was unveiled on October 20th added 124,978 copies to the tally.
The DVD still manages to fetch sales of about 2,142 copies in the 17th week of it’s release and it was ranked 6th based on Oricon Weekly Chart released on December 6th. Based on the Singles Weekly Chart (December 6th), ‘Genie’ and ‘Gee’ sold 2201 copies (13th week) and 4155 copies (7th week) respectively.
In addition to these, the Japanese edition of ‘Hoot’ which will be released on December 22nd is expected to boost SNSD’s annual sales in Japan and thus, surpassing the 500,000 copies mark. Japanese edition of ‘Hoot’ which comes in Regular Edition, Limited Pressing Edition and First Press Limited Edition is expected to fetch better sales than singles. With that, the goal of exceeding 100,000 copies for every music release will soon be realized.
