Yuri speaks on the challenges as an actress

Photos of Yuri reading the script of ‘Fashion King’ with a look of concentration, as though she has fallen in love with it, were revealed recently.

In the photos taken at the set of the location shooting in New York, Yuri who took up the acting challenge for the first time was seen holding the script with a serious expression on her face. She seemed to be fully immersed in it as she was studying and reading through the script.

Yuri said, “A singer channels all his/her energy to make an impact for a short period of time but for acting, since one has to take a long breath and live as the character being played to produce an impact, I think it’s more difficult.” She added, “I’m having so much fun taking up this new and recent challenge.”

‘Fashion King’ is SBS’s new Monday-Tuesday drama and it will begin airing on March 19th.

Yuri and Shin SeKyung showcase glamorous beauty through ‘Fashion King’

On February 27th, a post with attached pictures taken from the making video of SBS ‘Fashion King’ was published on a portal site forum. In the photo, Yuri and Shin SeKyung showcased their glamorous beauty through their strong and bold poses together with the male actors.

Yuri put both her hands on Lee JeHoon’s shoulder with a rather faint expression in her eyes. Shin SeKyung on the other hand, leaned against Yoo AhIn with a captivating pose. With their own unique poses and styles, the two gorgeous women looked as if they were competing against each other in between the short instances of the camera shutters.

The new SBS Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Fashion King’ will be aired starting March 19th at 9.55pm KST.

Yuri enjoys a game of table tennis while filming ‘Fashion King’ in New York

Girl’s Generation’s Yuri, who has turned to acting this year, was spotted enjoying a game of table tennis while filming on location in New York.

To start filming for the new SBS drama ‘Fashion King’, Yuri flew over to New York last week and has been dealing with busy daily schedules ever since she arrived. However, on February 22th where filming took place in a Manhattan studio, Yuri took her free time during which she had no scenes to film, to enjoy a few rounds of table tennis with the staff while still wearing her character’s clothes.


‘Fashion King’ will be the first time where Yuri will be showing off her acting skills in a major drama. Yuri will play the character of Anna, who overcomes the many obstacles of discrimination and with her own strength, later becomes a senior fashion designer working for a world-famous designer.

The other cast members includes Yoo Ah In, Shin Se Kyung, Lee Jae Hun, Jang Mi Hee and Han Yu E. ‘Fashion King’ was created with fashion as its theme, along with the challenges and success of young people and their love and desire. This drama was put together by the writers of ‘What Happened in Bali’, ‘One Thousand Year Old Penny’ and ‘Stars in my Heart’, Lee Sun Mi and Kim Ki Ho, and the director of ‘Bad Couple’ and ‘Ja Myeong Go’, Lee Myung Woo.

‘Fashion King’ will be the follow-up drama after the hit drama ‘Salary Man Cho Han Ji’, and will air its first episode on March 19th.

‘Fashion King’ production staff happy with Yuri’s acting

Photos Girls’ Generations’ Yuri taken during the filming of SBS’s new Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Fashion King’ was released on February 20th.

With the photos, the producers of the drama expressed their thoughts on Yuri’s acting, saying, “As we await the airing of the first episode on March 12th, the on-location filming in New York is in full swing. While filming her scenes, Kwon Yuri was able to express and her portray her character with depth, to the joy of the production crew.”

Producer Lee Myung Woo also complimented Yuri by saying, “Initially, I was a little worried because compared to the other actors, Yuri had the least acting experience. But after the cast list was finalized, I had a few meetings with Yuri just to talk about her character and about acting in general, and also gave her bit of advice. At the end I gave her a tape that covered everything we had talked about. I could sense that she had studied that tape a lot because her efforts showed through her acting while filming.”


Yuri also shared her experience, “During my Girls’ Generation Asia Tour activities, I didn’t want to lose touch in my acting so I just kept watching the video that Producer Lee had given me over and over again.” She continued, “I always wanted to try acting, so I am very happy to be given the opportunity to do so. With the help of the production crew, I am having a lot of fun on set and I can’t wait for the many days of filming to come.”

‘Fashion King’ production staff receives surprise Valentine’s Day gifts from Yuri!

In conjunction with Valentine’s Day, Yuri gave chocolates as gifts to the production staff of ‘Fashion King’.

Yuri, who arrived in New York for on-location shooting on February 13th for SBS drama ‘Fashion King’ which is expected to be aired in March this year, gave some chocolates with a card containing the support message, “For our family members who have always been working hard, have something sweet and fighting” to the production staff as a Valentine’s Day gift.

It was said that Yuri went around markets and departmental stores in New York for more than 4 hours to shop for the gifts and she said, “For the sake of filming, the production staff are spending the Valentine’s Day away from their families and loved ones. I’ve prepared this gift for them with the hope that it would give them some joy.”

The staff who received the unexpected gifts said, “The Valentine’s Day in 2012 is an unforgettable one.”

Yuri flew to New York for location shooting of ‘Fashion King’

On February 13th, Yuri departed for New York for the location shooting of SBS new Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Fashion King’.

Yuri along with other Girls’ Generation members arrived at Incheon International Airport in the early morning of February 13th after completing their Bangkok leg of the ‘Girls’ Generation Tour’ which took place on February 12th. Just a few of hours after they had landed in Seoul, Yuri had to take another flight to New York for the shooting. However, she showed no sign of fatigue at all.

Yuri said, “As I will be playing a firm character in my very first drama, I am very worried. Thus, for the sake of playing the role, I’ve been focusing on my acting practice. In order to do well in my acting, I will work really hard. I hope to present myself well to the viewers”.

In ‘Fashion King’, Yuri plays the role of the charming and beautiful Choi AnNa, who strove and persevered through difficulties in America to be the top designer working under a world-known fashion designer.

Meanwhile, ‘Fashion King’ will be aired starting March 12th at 9.55pm KST.

Cast of ‘Fashion King’ heads to New York to start filming on February 13th!

The cast and crew of the upcoming SBS drama ‘Fashion King’ will be leaving for fashion city, New York to kick off their production very soon.

In order to film for the drama that will start airing in March, the cast, Yoo Ah In, Shin Se Kyung, Kwon Yuri and Lee Jae Hoon, will be going to New York to film the first scene where all four members first met each other. They will film for two weeks starting from February 13th on location in New York.

The production team of ‘Fashion King’ confirmed, “On February 10th, the production staff will head to New York first and film the streets and sights of the city, while the actors will arrive on the February 13th and film on location for two weeks.”

He continued, “We will film at the New York fashion school, as well as the trendy streets of New York and film the scene where the four main cast members first meet.”

‘Fashion King’ is a story about young designers wanting to become world class designers but having to start off small at the Dong Dae Mun Markets. The cast will include Yoo Ah In, Shin Se Kyung, Girls’ Generation Yuri and Lee Jae Hun.

The first episode of ‘Fashion King’ will air on March 12th.

Yuri and Jessica are giving 100% for drama debut

Ahead of their drama debut, Yuri and Jessica are in the midst of learning and working hard to sharpen their acting skills. Recently, they have been putting their focus on receiving guidance and acting tips from a veteran acting instructor.

A representative from SM Entertainment said, “From the acting instructor, Yuri and Jessica have been receiving lessons on character analysis, vocalization, breathing, etc which is a prerequisite for a newcomer. After mastering the basics of acting, Yuri and Jessica are working very hard to meet the fans’ expectations”.

With Girls’ Generation’s promotional activities for their 3rd album ended at the end of December 2011, the members will be concentrating on their individual activities during the first half of 2012. During this period, Yuri and Jessica will be focusing on their acting stints.

Yuri will be taking the role of Anna in SBS drama ‘Fashion King’ which is expected to go on air starting March. Her fellow member, Jessica will be featured as Kang JongHee, who is Lee DongWook’s ex-lover in KBS 2TV’s Wednesday-Thursday drama ‘Violent Romance’ which will be aired starting January 4th.

Those in the drama production team also showed their high expectation for both Yuri and Jessica. According to a representative from an outsourced production company of ‘Fashion King’, Lee KwanHee Production, during the first script reading practice, Yuri received praises for expressing her emotions well and in terms of her acting, there is nothing to worry about.

Yuri’s role in SBS drama ‘Fashion King’ confirmed

On December 24th, ‘Fashion King”s PD along with scriptwriters Lee SunMi and Kim KiHo as well as Choi MoonSuk CP participated in the first script reading exercise held at the SBS Ilsan Production Center.

Also present at the Script reading session were Yoo Ah-In who will be playing the role of YoungGeol, Lee JeHoon who will be taking the role of JaeHyuk, Yuri, who went straight to SBS Ilsan Production Center as soon as she arrived from Japan as well as the other 20 actors. In the drama, Yuri will be playing the character, Anna.

During this very first session, the actors and actresses showed their enthuasism for ‘Fashion King’ as they put their emotions into the reading, just as though they were acting out the actual scenes in the drama.

‘Fashion King’ is a story about the challenges, success, love and desires of young individuals who take on the future and the world.
