On Day 1 of its release in Japan, SNSD’s Licensed Japanese Edition of 3rd mini album ‘Hoot’ managed to secure the #2 spot on Oricon Daily Album Chart.
Released officially on December 22nd, ‘Hoot’ recorded sales of 21,271 copies, making it the 2nd hottest selling album of the day behind Ayumi Hamasaki’s ‘Love Songs’ which recorded a massive sales of 70,609 copies, also on the first day of release.
Following this a representative from the music industry said, “Previously, the licensed albums for Super Junior and SHINee only managed to secure 5th and 8th spot respectively on Oricon. Since SNSD have not officially promoted the album in Japan, I think this result is rather phenomenal. SNSD’s songs are well received and loved domestically in Korea as well as in Japan”.
On December 21st, the Japanese version of SNSD’s 3rd mini album, ‘Hoot’ was released and as expected, it received overwhelming response from the local fans.
On the day before the release (December 20th), the Tower Records in Shibuya, Tokyo was filled with promotional images of SNSD. A separate store was also specially set-up to welcome the fans who are eager to get their hands on SNSD’s new release. Japanese fans in their teens to those in their 30s, seem to be the ones contributing to the majority of the album purchase.
A staff of the record store said, “Due to the expected high demand of SNSD’s release, we have set up stalls a day earlier (December 20th). Since last week, there were a lot of inquiries flowing in through phone calls about the release”. He added, “Both male and female fans love them very much”.
The girls are expected to appear on Japanese TV shows to promote their newly released Japanese version of 3rd mini album ‘Hoot’.
