‘Hoot’ sold more than 20k copies in Japan on Day 1
December 22, 2010On Day 1 of its release in Japan, SNSD’s Licensed Japanese Edition of 3rd mini album ‘Hoot’ managed to secure the #2 spot on Oricon Daily Album Chart.
Released officially on December 22nd, ‘Hoot’ recorded sales of 21,271 copies, making it the 2nd hottest selling album of the day behind Ayumi Hamasaki’s ‘Love Songs’ which recorded a massive sales of 70,609 copies, also on the first day of release.
Following this a representative from the music industry said, “Previously, the licensed albums for Super Junior and SHINee only managed to secure 5th and 8th spot respectively on Oricon. Since SNSD have not officially promoted the album in Japan, I think this result is rather phenomenal. SNSD’s songs are well received and loved domestically in Korea as well as in Japan”.

‘Hoot’ arrows hit Japan and the fever is ON!
December 22, 2010On December 21st, the Japanese version of SNSD’s 3rd mini album, ‘Hoot’ was released and as expected, it received overwhelming response from the local fans.
On the day before the release (December 20th), the Tower Records in Shibuya, Tokyo was filled with promotional images of SNSD. A separate store was also specially set-up to welcome the fans who are eager to get their hands on SNSD’s new release. Japanese fans in their teens to those in their 30s, seem to be the ones contributing to the majority of the album purchase.
A staff of the record store said, “Due to the expected high demand of SNSD’s release, we have set up stalls a day earlier (December 20th). Since last week, there were a lot of inquiries flowing in through phone calls about the release”. He added, “Both male and female fans love them very much”.
The girls are expected to appear on Japanese TV shows to promote their newly released Japanese version of 3rd mini album ‘Hoot’.

Oh! Soshi won 2010 Annual K-Chart Award
December 17, 2010Awards keep flowing in for the girls! Today, SNSD were crowned with the 2010 K-Chart Award for their 2nd Album title track, ‘Oh!‘. In the first half of 2010, ‘Oh!’ consistently sat on the top of the K-Chart for 5 weeks in a row and for that, it was also chosen as the #1 song for the first half of 2010 on KBS Music Bank K-Chart.
With the win, the girls have won the Year-End K-Chart Award for 2 years in a row. In 2009, ‘Gee’ took the #1 spot for 9 weeks in a row and thus crowned as the winner for that year. To help you recall, here’s a photo from last year.
In today’s KBS Music Bank Year-End Special, out of the top 10 songs in 2010, SNSD have 3 entries. As mentioned before, ‘Oh!’ took the #1 spot, ‘Hoot’ in 4th and ‘Run Devil Run’ in 6th.

Arrow dance syndrome struck Kim Taehee
December 16, 2010The trailer of the upcoming MBC drama, ‘My Princess’ was revealed on December 16th and Kim Taehee’s ‘Hoot’ dance as seen in the trailer has garnered much attention from the viewers. The new drama will be aired starting January 5th, 2011.
In the trailer, Kim Taehee sang SNSD’s ‘Hoot’ and cutely did the arrow dance, much to Song Seunghun’s amazement. Ever since the trailer was released, it has gathered a lot of hot reactions from netizens.

‘Oh!’ is the No.1 video on ’2010 YouTube REWIND’
December 13, 2010SNSD’s videos were ranked 1st and 2nd on YouTube Korea’s ’2010 YouTube REWIND’.
SNSD’s ‘Oh!’ MV has been chosen as the most viewed music video on YouTube Korea, followed by ‘Run Devil Run’ MV. On the other hand, the MV for ‘Hoot’ which was released in October managed to secure the 9th spot despite the fact that it was just released about 2 months ago. ‘Oh! Dance version’ was ranked 10th and this means that there are 4 SNSD videos in the Top 10.
*Super Junior’s ‘Bonamana’ was placed 3rd, SHINee’s ‘Lucifer’ in 4th while 2NE1′s ‘Can’t Nobody’ and ‘Go Away’ grabbed the 5th and 6th spot respectively.

Shoujo Jidai eye 500k sales in Japan before year ends
December 10, 2010SNSD who had just debuted in Japan in September 2010, are expecting to hit the 500,000 copies mark in terms of albums and DVD sales in Japan.
According to Oricon, SNSD who released 2 singles and a DVD, recorded a total sales of 318,736 as of December 9th. The DVD entitled ‘Girls’ Generation Torai – Commemorative Edition – New Beginning of Girls’ Generation‘ sold 81,034 copies as of the date mentioned, while First Japanese Debut Single ‘Genie’ which was released on September 8th, recorded sales of 112,724 copies. 2nd Debut Single ‘Gee‘ which was unveiled on October 20th added 124,978 copies to the tally.
The DVD still manages to fetch sales of about 2,142 copies in the 17th week of it’s release and it was ranked 6th based on Oricon Weekly Chart released on December 6th. Based on the Singles Weekly Chart (December 6th), ‘Genie’ and ‘Gee’ sold 2201 copies (13th week) and 4155 copies (7th week) respectively.
In addition to these, the Japanese edition of ‘Hoot’ which will be released on December 22nd is expected to boost SNSD’s annual sales in Japan and thus, surpassing the 500,000 copies mark. Japanese edition of ‘Hoot’ which comes in Regular Edition, Limited Pressing Edition and First Press Limited Edition is expected to fetch better sales than singles. With that, the goal of exceeding 100,000 copies for every music release will soon be realized.

Korea-China Music Festival to be aired on December 12th
December 6, 2010‘The 12th Korea-China Music Festival’,co-organized by China’s CCTV and Korea’s KBS took place in KBS Hall Yeouido, Seoul on December 2nd at 7.30pm.
In this year’s event, artists from the Korean side are SNSD, CN Blue, 2NE1, Supreme Team, U-Kiss, Kara, SHINee, Shin Seunghoon, Park Junghyun, Chaeyeon, etc. China were represented by Sun Nan, Wang Fang, Han Hong, Hit-5, etc.
U-Kiss and Hit-5 joined hands to perform a song called ‘Friends’, while Shin Seunghoon and Sun Nan sang ‘I Believe’. SNSD who dressed in gold outfit performed ‘Hoot’ without Tiffany at the annual music festival.
‘The 12th Korea-China Music Festival’ will be aired at 6pm KST, December 12th on KBS 1TV.

5th K-Chart win for ‘Hoot’, Soshi won 27% of 2010′s K-Chart awards
December 3, 2010After winning K-Chart for 5 weeks in a row with ‘Oh!’, SNSD recorded the same amazing feat with ‘Hoot’.
On KBS ‘Music Bank’ aired LIVE on December 3rd, SNSD and Baek Jiyoung who were both absent went up against each other for this week’s K-Chart award. SNSD’s ‘Hoot’ emerged as the winner for the 5th week in a row with total point of 10,436, about 2,000 points more than Baek Jiyoung’s ‘That Woman’.
With the win, SNSD have successfully grabbed 13 K-Chart Awards or 27% of the total awards in 2010. The girls could not attend today’s show as they are preparing for the FNS Music Festival in Japan on December 4th. The new ‘Music Bank”s MCs, Hyunwoo and Minji said, “We will pass this trophy to SNSD”.
