Girls’ Generation released their first Japanese greatest hits album titled ‘The Best’ today on July 23rd.
On its first day of release, ‘The Best’ managed to top the Oricon Daily Album Chart with a total of 37,104 albums sold!
‘The Best’ contains previous hit singles and songs from their Japanese albums since 2010 to 2014 and includes bonus tracks, which are the Japanese versions of ‘Mr.Mr.’ and a new song ‘Indestructible’.
The album comes in three versions, which is the Complete Limited Edition, First Press Limited Edition and Regular Edition. In certain versions, DVD or Bluray versions of music videos, interviews and making films are included.

Girls’ Generation has successfully became the Korean girl group to have achieved an attendance of more than 550,000 people in their Japan tours so far!
Girls’ Generation concluded their third Japanese concert tour, titled ‘GIRLS’ GENERATION ~LOVE&PEACE~ Japan 3rd Tour’, with the final stop in Tokyo at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium from July 11th to July 13th, 2014.
This time around, the concert tour kicked off on April 26th and the girls travelled to seven cities including Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Kobe, Nagoya, Osaka, Saitama and Tokyo for 17 concerts, which brought in a total of more than 200,000 audience. This means that they have achieved an accumulated total of more than 550,000 audience in their three arena tours since 2011, creating a record for Korean girl groups.
Girls’ Generation had a finale of the tour in Tokyo, which spanned across three concerts at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium, and they were a great success where they showed off their variety of music and performances along with colourful stage production to receive great response from the enthusiastic audience.
In their tour, Girls’ Generation performed a lot of their hit songs including ‘Gee’, ‘Genie’, ‘I Got A Boy’, ‘Mr.Mr.’, ‘Karma Butterfly’, ‘Lips’, ‘Paparazzi’, ‘Flower Power’, ‘Galaxy Supernova’ and many more.
On top of that, during the last few concerts, the girls also surprised fans with ‘Indestructible’, a new song included in their soon-to-be released Japanese greatest hits album ‘The Best’.
After endless waiting and numerous teasers, Girls’ Generation’s ‘Mr.Mr.’ mini album was finally released in stores on February 27th. And one day later, on a special leap day, the music video was finally released as a surprise on February 28th!

Besides the music video, fans were also treated to a new series of black and white teaser photos where the girls donned a more masculine and chic concept, much to the joy of fans.

Girls’ Generation (also known as Shoujo Jidai in Japan) are once again given recognition in the 28th Japan Gold Disc Awards this year. The girls brought home two out of three ‘Best 3 Albums (Asia)’ awards with their albums ‘Girls’ Generation II ~ Girls & Peace ~’ and ‘Love & Peace’, alongside their SM Entertainment labelmates TVXQ’s ‘TIME’.
The Japan Gold Disc Award is one of the major annual music awards in Japan, held by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) yearly since 1987, in recognition of the music sales and outstanding artists in the country.
Ever since their debut in Japan, Girls’ Generation has won numerous awards from this annual music awards including the ‘New Artists of The Year Award‘ and the ‘Best 5 New Artists Award‘ in the 25th Gold Disc Award in 2011, ‘Album of the Year Award (Asia)’ and ‘Best 3 Albums Award (Asia)’ for their first Japanese album ‘Girls’ Generation’ in 2012. In 2013, they walked away with the ‘Song of the Year By Download Award (Asia)’ with ‘Paparazzi’ and ‘Best Music Video Award (Asia)’ with their ‘Japan First Tour Girls’ Generation’.

Girls’ Generation is due to release their third Japanese album on December 11th. Prior to the release of the yet-to-be-titled album, a single ‘My Oh My’ from the album was released earlier at midnight of November 5th in Japan through online music sites such as iTunes Japan.

It was also announced that the music video for ‘My Oh My’ will be released on YouTube today and fans are already waiting anxiously for it as anticipation for the third album continues to build on.
The new album will contain 12 songs including ‘LOVE&GIRLS’ and ‘GALAXY SUPERNOVA’. It will come in four editions with three different covers, where the Bluray limited edition and DVD limited edition will share a common cover. Check out the full details and differences of the four editions here.

As we get closer to September 18th, the countdown for Girls’ Generation’s new Japanese single ‘GALAXY SUPERNOVA’ begins and excitement is building in the air!
With just nine days to go, the music video teaser and audio preview for ‘GALAXY SUPERNOVA’ were revealed today, on Japan’s Mezamashi TV and Girls’ Generation’s official Japanese website respectively.
Meanwhile, ‘GALAXY SUPERNOVA’ will also be used in collaboration with a Japanese fashion brand Samantha Thavasa’s new line of jeans as part of their advertising campaign such as commercials and other projects.
In preparation of the release of the new single, Girls’ Generation’s official Japanese website has also been updated with ‘GALAXY SUPERNOVA’ group and individual photos as well as an audio preview in the background. Check it out HERE!
On top of that, Universal Music Japan also announced that the ‘GALAXY SUPERNOVA’ music video will be released at 12pm JST today!

In addition to that, Taeyeon also posted a group photo from ‘GALAXY SUPERNOVA’ on her Instagram this morning before the girls (except Seohyun) left for Japan via Gimpo Airport. She left a message with the photo, which says, “GalaxySuperNova드디어공개입니다! /NineGirls♥ /JPN NewSong / #gg #girlsgeneration #SamanthaThavasa.”

Update 1: ‘GALAXY SUPERNOVA’ Dance Version Music Video Released!
Check out the newly-released dance version MV for Girls’ Generation’s new single ‘GALAXY SUPERNOVA’, which will be officially released on September 18th!

Mark September 18th in your calendars because Girls’ Generation will be having a couple of Japanese releases on that day!
First up is the ‘Girls’ Generation ~ Girls & Peace ~ Japan 2nd Tour’ DVDs and Blu-ray discs! It will include the 27 songs performed during the second Japan tour (song list here), the dance versions of ‘Boomerang’, ‘Reflection’, ‘I’m a Diamond’ as well as tour document movie. The limited DVD and Blu-ray editions will come with a 44-page photo booklet (both versions will be different) and a special t-shirt (size M).
The four versions of the ‘Girls’ Generation ~ Girls & Peace ~ Japan 2nd Tour’ are as follows:
Regular DVD edition is priced at ￥4,980, Limited Edition DVD (with photo booklet and special t-shirt) is ￥6,980, regular Blu-ray edition is ￥5,980 while the Limited Edition Blu-ray (with photo booklet and special t-shirt) is ￥8,240.
Meanwhile, Girls’ Generation will also release a new Japanese single ‘GALAXY SUPERNOVA’ on September 18th. The single will have ‘GALAXY SUPERNOVA’ as its title song as well as another Japanese original song ‘DO THE CATWALK’. It will come in two versions, the regular edition (￥1,260) and the Limited CD+DVD Edition (￥1,890), which comes with a DVD of the ‘GALAXY SUPERNOVA’ music video.
Girls’ Generation will be releasing their 7th Japanese single ‘LOVE & GIRLS’ on May 29th!
The new single will include two tracks ‘LOVE & GIRLS’ and リンガ・フランカ (Lingua Franca).
‘LOVE & GIRLS’ will come in two versions, the First Press Limited Edition (1,890 yen) which includes a DVD containing the MV of ‘Beep Beep’ and the regular version without the DVD (1,260 yen).
‘LOVE & GIRLS’ will be Girls’ Generation’s latest release in Japan after the previous ‘Flower Power’ single and their second Japanese album ‘Girls & Peace’.
The short version music video of Girls’ Generation’s Japanese track ‘Beep Beep’ is released today!
A short teaser of the music video was revealed at Girls’ Generation’s 2nd Japan Arena Tour in Saitama on April 4th and it was announced that the full music video will be released at 8 am JST the following day.
‘Beep Beep’ is a B-side track included in Girls’ Generation’s ‘Flower Power’ single, which was released digitally on November 14th, 2012 and physical copies were available in stores a week later.
The chirpy, upbeat song was also performed in the girls’ ongoing 2nd Arena Tour concerts and many are looking forward to an official music video release of the song.
