The update to version 2.7 of Daum’s smartphone application received overwhelming response from smartphone users. Through this update, many features are made available to the users, including new SNSD themes.

The update was officially released on June 29th and within just 4 days, about 100,000 users have changed their existing themes to the SNSD themes which were included in the update. That figure made up 60% of the 2.7 version users.

For the iPhone version, there are a total of 12 video themes featuring Seohyun, Yuri, YoonA, Jessica, Taeyeon, Tiffany, etc. For the Android phones on the other hand, there are 6 SNSD themes and 12 regular themes.

Daum’s Mobile Strategy Team Leader said, “This update provides users with more convenience and ease of using Daum’s mobile services. In the future, we will provide more innovative features in order to maximize user satisfaction”.

Daum Communications officially revealed the MV for SNSD’s ‘Snowy Wish’ through ‘Daum’ Smartphone Application on December 24th.

SNSD’s ‘Snowy Wish’ MV shall be available on the ‘Daum’ app till December 28th. In the future, more music services will be made available.

The MV consists of never-seen before shots of SNSD’s activities in 2010 as well as some cuts of CF making film. To access the MV, users of the ‘Daum’ application just have to click on the ‘all services’ button at the bottom of the screen and select the music video icon.

In addition to that, themes services such as changing background images, etc are provided through ‘Voice Search with SNSD’.

Brand Marketing Team Leader, Yoon Jungha said, “This is the first time a music video is being launched to the public through a mobile application and the significance of such attempt is great. In the future, there will be a wide variety and fun services being launched through Daum mobile apps”.

Many might not be aware of the extend of SNSD and Kara’s popularity in Japan.

One of Japan’s mobile community site, Recochoku conducted a poll from October 5th to October 19th to find out the ranking of female idols who are being dubbed as goddesses. The poll saw 2,307 participants cast their votes,

On top of the list is Japan’s very own popular girl group AKB48. SNSD came in 3rd place while Kara grabbed the 6th spot. These results have garnered much attention from various parties.

According to Rechocoku, Japan’s ‘mobile generation’ dubbed the Korean female idol groups as “goddesses”. SNSD’s “physical appearances” and Kara’s “butt dance” were identified to be the factor for their popularity in Japan.

SNSD who released their 2nd Japanese Single “Gee” on October 20th had taken Japan by storm on the same day where “Gee” was ranked 2nd on Oricon’s Daily Singles Chart. The girls are currently busy with their promotional activities.
