French magazine pens Girls’ Generation’s world conquest
January 31, 2012Girls’ Generation are receiving huge attention in France.
On French music magazine, Musique Info’s ‘Midem 2012 Special Edition’, an article with the title ‘Girls’ Generation Taking On The World’ was published.
In the article, Music Info stated, “Girls’ Generation and Kpop, which is widely known in Asia and the rest of the world, are beginning to receive recognition.” Also, the article reported on the girls’ participation in the ‘SM Town Live’ concert, which took place in Paris (June 2011), as well as the New York-leg of the concert in Madison Square Garden (October 2011).
In addition to that, according to the article, David Assogba, Chief of Project Marketing for Polydor France (a record label under Universal Music Group responsible for the distribution of Girls’ Generation’s ‘The Boys’ albums in Europe) expressed his confidence in the girls by stating, “Girls’ Generation is a world-class group.”
The schedule of Girls’ Generation’s album sales in France was also revealed in the magazine. The Korean version of Girls’ Generation’s 3rd album ‘The Boys’, which will be released for the first time in France will make its way to the market in January/February while the English version, which involves the participation of famous producers, Teddy Riley and Polow Da Don will be available in June this year.

While portraying the sense of intimacy and closeness, ‘Diamond’ also gives out the winter season’s feeling of warmth and joy that could only be expressed through Girls’ Generation’s very own unique charms. Thus, it is not surprising that ‘Diamond’ is one of the hot favorite tracks in the album.

Send Christmas greetings with SMTown’s winter album ‘The Warmest Gift’
December 6, 2011SMTOWN’s winter album <2011 SMTOWN Winter ‘The Warmest Gift’> will be released this coming December 13th.
This time around, SMTOWN artists, such as Kangta, BoA, TVXQ, Trax, CSJH’s Dana & Sunday, Super Junior, Girls’ Generation, SHINee, f(x), Jang Li-yin participated in the recording of SMTOWN’s winter album – a new album after its last in 2007 four years ago.
The winter album contains 11 songs in total, including 4 remade classic Christmas songs like ‘Last Christmas’ and ‘Sleigh Ride’, as well as 7 new songs.
A new song titled ‘Diamond’ sang by Girls’ Generation is a refined song with familiar rhythm. It is a standard pop song giving off a warm and happy feeling, while allowing Girls’ Generation display their unique charms.
<2011 SMTOWN Winter ‘The Warmest Gift’> will also be released in Japan on December 14th.

SM Town to hit the silver screen in first half of 2012!
November 8, 2011A movie that depicts the daily life and performances of SM Entertainment artistes will soon be released!
On November 8th, CJ Entertainment stated, “A movie featuring the scenes from the SM Town Live World Tour in New York performances by Kangta, BoA, Girls’ Generation, TVXQ, Super Junior, f(x), SHINee and other SM Entertainment artistes as well as unreleased performances and the artistes’ true stories is being produced”.
The SM Town concert in New York which took place on October 23rd was the first concert by Asian artistes to be held at the Madison Square Garden, New York. The movie ‘I am: SMTOWN LIVE WORLD TOUR in Madison Square Garden (production title)’ which is directed by Choi JinSung and co-produced by both CJ Entertainment and SM Entertainment is expected to be released in the first half of 2012.

Girls’ Generation turns Times Square pink!
October 25, 2011Girls’ Generation, who showed off their charms at successfully completed ‘SMTOWN Live in New York’ concert on October 23rd, participated in the filming of one of MTV channel’s programme and conquered the centre of New York – Times Square.
Promoting their worldwide-released song ‘The Boys’, Girls’ Generation appeared on the special programme on the music channel, MTV, on October 24th at 3pm (New York standard time). The programme, aired on ‘MTV News’ and ‘MTV Network Channel’, included an interview conducted with Girls’ Generation.
It is also worth mentioning that the programme was not only filmed at the MTV open studio located at New York’s Times Square, but it was also broadcasted live through the huge MTV display screen opposite the open studio. As fans from all regions of US gathered at Times Square to watch Girls’ Generation, their global popularity was once again proven to be true.
As soon as Girls’ Generation appeared onscreen, fans held up fan boards, towels and folding fans prepared in advance and at the same time, shouted members’ names loudly. Throughout the filming, fans stayed with the members and supported them, attracting attentions of the New York residents passing by Broadway.
As the MTV programme and ‘The Boys’ teaser video were broadcasted on the screen in Times Square on October 24th and 17th respectively, many fans have stood along the road to watch. So many fans were there that it created an illusion that Times Square has become ‘Girls’ Generation Road’.
Furthermore, after the filming of the MTV programme ended, Girls’ Generation held their first US fan meeting at the ‘BEST BUY Theater’ located at New York’s Broadway, to introduce their new album and the girls answered questions through the Q&A session. More than a thousand fans gathered at the fan meeting, once again indicating Girls’ Generation’s popularity.

Our girls bring ‘The Boys’ out in New York
October 24, 2011On October 23rd, SM Town artistes namely BoA, SNSD, Kangta, f(x), SHINee, TVXQ and Super Junior performed at the ‘SM Town Live World Tour Concert’ in Madison Square Garden, New York.
15,000-strong fans cheered on top of their voices for their idols at the 3.5-hour concert. A representative of SM Entertainment said, “Out of the total number of audience here, 70% are non-Asians. The audience could follow the songs and the fan chants in Korean very well”.

New York media reports on K-Pop and SMTown!
October 24, 2011On October 23rd, SNSD attended the ‘2011 SMTOWN Live in New York’ concert held at the famous Madison Square Garden in New York. The event also managed to attract local public attention since it was especially noticeable that one of New York’s media, the NY Daily News, published an article titled ‘The Korean invasion: New Yorkers are screaming for the new wave of pop stars’, which attached a full-page photo of Sooyoung, showing the anticipation from the media. Madison Square Garden is a well-known concert venue, where world-class pop stars such as Michael Jackson, Beyoncé and Lady Gaga held their concerts previously. This is also the first time any Asian singers has held a concert here and all 15,000 seats were sold out, indicating the singers’ popularity so it is no wonder that the local media has their attention to it.
After the concert, SNSD will be releasing ‘The Boys’ as a single album in November through Interscope Records, the biggest record label under Universal Music. After the release of ‘The Boys’ on October 19th, it is ranked 64th on the US iTunes, with its music video exceeding 10 million views on Youtube in 110 hours. While these received much attention, producer for ‘The Boys’ – Teddy Riley sang praises of the girls and further commented through his Twitter, “SNSD is going to do well”, leading to an increase in anticipation.

Soshi are on the way to heat up New York!
October 22, 2011SNSD will be departing for New York from Incheon International Airport on October 22nd (evening, Korean time) for the ‘SM Town Live World Tour’ in Madison Square Garden.
Besides SNSD, other SM artistes such as TVXQ, BoA, Kangta, SHINee, f(x) and Super Junior will also be participating in the concert. Kicking off in Seoul and then to venues in LA, Tokyo, Paris, etc, ‘SM Town Live World Tour’ Concerts had managed to attract music fans from all around the world. The New York-leg of the concert will be taking place at 7pm (New York local time) on October 23rd in Madison Square Garden’s main concert arena which could accomodate 15,000 fans.
According to Madison Square Garden officials, ‘SM Town Live World Tour’ will be the first concert by Asian artistes to be held at Madison Square Garden’s main concert arena.
In addition to that, a huge billboard in New York’s Time Square which was sponsored by LG Electronics has been playing the promotional video of ‘SM Town Live World Tour in New York’ since October 17th.
At the New York concert, SNSD will be performing the English version of ‘The Boys’ for the very first time ever since its worldwide release on October 19th. As such, explosive response from the American music fans is very much anticipated.

Japanese media praises SNSD for professional SM Town performances
September 5, 2011Japanese media praised SNSD for their professionalism on stage despite having to perform without Sooyoung.
The online version of Japan’s Oricon published an article on September 5th about the ‘SM Town Live in Tokyo’ concert, which was held at Tokyo Dome from September 2nd to 4th. The concert boasted star-studded line-up, comprising of SNSD, TVXQ, BoA and other SM Entertainment artistes.
Oricon stated that despite Sooyoung’s absence, the rest of the members had managed to captivate the audience with their explosive performances.
Maknae Seohyun said, “Without Sooyoung, we feel lonely, but the remaining 8 of us will try our very best even for Sooyoung’s parts.” During the concert, SNSD performed their hit songs such as ‘Genie’, ‘Mr.Taxi’, ‘Gee’, etc in front of the Japanese audience.
Besides SNSD, artistes such as TVXQ, BoA, SHINee, Super Junior, f(x), CSJH, etc also graced the Tokyo Dome with their energetic performances.
With a 50,000-strong audience each day, the concert drew a total of 150,000 fans from September 2nd to 4th. As the tickets are priced at 12,800 Yen each (about 170,000 Won), the total revenue collected from the concert is expected to be close to 25.5 billion Won.
‘SM Town Live in Tokyo’ will be aired on satellite broadcasting channel ‘WOWOW’ on November 13th.
