In loving memory of a SONE

August 14, 2011

A blog entry from a terminally ill SONE written in July 2011, weeks before SNSD’s solo concerts in Seoul, was translated. This person managed to get tickets to the concert but was unable to attend as he had to go to US on July 23rd for a last-chance medical treatment and he wrote it as a possible end to the road. There is since no words or updates from this SONE.

To: SNSD

Perhaps all of you will never know who I am in my entire life..
And perhaps there will never be a day when you will read this.. ^^
But because there are people consistently reblogging my post, there may be some day when you will see this.

When I first saw you.. September 2007.. It was really a long time ago, right?
When I think of then, you guys were not that popular back then, were you?
Until then, I had never been a fan of anyone…
But how, did I actually fall in love with all of you like this?

Since I was younger, my body was weak and yet I was still addicted to things like smoking. The sense of regret for that was so much, as much as how I started to like you.
When they started opening up the first SONE fanclub membership.. I told myself, is there a need for me to bring it to such an extent.
But until today, I’m still regretful of not joining..
Because I found out that I’m diagnosed with this disease last year… I was never this regretful..
Regretful of how I cannot be actively following you all, regretful of how I cannot be like other SONEs, who like you and cherish you as much as me..
Just because I knew it too late..
Then in 2008, when sorrow and joy met… I waited for you all silently, even though we cannot do anything for each other.
Days passed like this..
Until I saw the ‘Gee’ teaser, my tears flowed, without a word.

I’m grateful.. Really grateful.. Grateful that you came back to our side again.
But because I was wanted to see you all so much during activities, and wanted to keep updated with you so much..
I neglected my body and health…

Then, it was the first time and the last time, I saw all of you at the concert..
But I’m sorry that the memories faded, just like how I’m fading away right now..

From the start until now, my love for you all is really strong.. I missed you..
I’ve never said “Right now it’s Girls’ Generation” to all of you before… I will be regretful every single day, when my eyes are still open, still breathing, and still alive..

Yet I don’t regret it when I say I’m going to America..
Because you all became so popular… I can hear news about you anywhere I go..
Being one of the hundreds of people screaming for you in the concert halls..
Being one of the hundreds of people writing letters to you on your birthdays..

Even though it’s like this, I’m still happy.
For I can feel the love you are giving us..
For I myself can feel how much I cherish and love you all..
Have I ever been so crazy as a fan before?
Can I ever be so crazy as a fan again for the rest of my limited number of days?
I definitely won’t…

I mean..
Even if I’m just one among the few hundred thousand people.. I won’t mind..
Because I’m among one of them SONEs who always say that we love you..
Although I don’t know if I will be like this in someone’s eyes..
In any case… SNSD! For you all.. Knowing this is enough..
We will.. always be supporting you no matter where you are at, whatever you do..
Congratulations for your 2nd tour… This year, I also pray that you all will be healthy and will not fall sick.

From,
One SONE among hundreds of thousands

A dream turns reality for 103 American SONEs

July 23, 2011

“In order to watch SNSD’s concert, I started working in a currency changer as a part-time worker to save money. Since I’ll be able to see SNSD right in front of me…”, said Julian Cervantes, a 21 years old American college student who could not hide his excitement. Natasha, who came together with him from Chicago, was as happy as him. She said, “My iPod is full of SNSD songs. Now I can hear them live!”. John Toss from New Mexico who sat right beside them added, “I finally ate the real Kimchi Jjigae (Kimchi stew).”

These 103 American SNSD fans who met one another on SNSD’s International fan-site “Soshified”, found a common interest and came to Korea on their own. The group of young people staying in Seoul from the 21st to 26th are planning to watch SNSD’s concert, MBC “Music core”, and KBS 2TV’s “Immortal Song”. Cervantes, Natasha and Toss met one another at Seoul’s downtown.

The three Americans started talking about their love for K-pop once they met. They have been looking forward to the Korea trip so much that they requested to attend these music programs from the Los Angeles branch of Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) when they were still in America since the tickets cannot be obtained easily. Cervantes became a K-pop fan 2 years ago after listening to SNSD’s “Gee” by chance. He said, “The fast and joyful beats really caught my attention. Until now, I bought all of f(x), Kara and other K-pop groups’ albums, and spent about 5000 dollars (5.26 million Won). Being a SNSD Taeyeon and Sunny’s fan, Toss said “Now, American Idols seem to have ‘gone further away’ from us. As we watched reality programs like “Invincible Youth” and “Running man”, Korean idols seem more ‘human’ to us, which is great.”

As they get to know more Korean idols like T-ara, IU and Big Bang, they started mixing Korean phrases like “Gwaenchanayo (it’s ok)” and “Jogeum-yo (a little)” in their conversations. Cervantes who has been learning the Korean language for a year said, “While we became more interested in Korean idols, we started to pay attention to Korean culture”. Natasha also got more familiar with Korean cultures through her room mate at their dorm. She is currently learning Korean on her own through mobile applications.

Toss who was born in New Mexico, makes Korean food on his own. He said, “Because we don’t have Korean restaurant there, I obtain the recipe from the internet and started making kimchi on my own a few months ago.” Cervantes on the other hand, travels all the way to the Korean town just to eat Jjinbbang, Patbbang (Korean steamed buns) and Bibimpab (Korean mixed dish).

Julian, Natasha and John added, “We only saw Korean culture and food through TV programs. It’s really hard to believe that we can actually experience them now.” Before going back to America, they have another wish and that is to get SNSD members’ autographs when they head down to the Seoul Olympic Park Stadium today.

Fan account @ SNSD Official Fanclub SONE 1st Fanmeeting

September 26, 2010

For many of us who could not attend today’s (September 26th) fanmeeting held at Hwajung Gymnasium, Korea University at 5pm KST, do not be afraid. There are fan accounts of what happened there, thanks to Silis7noy2 who put down everything in detail. I had a great time reading them and I bet you’re dying to know what happened at the fan meeting today. So, here it is:

Tight security, don’t know about fancams but at least fans got audio recordings of the songs and more

The fan song was false rumor

Members wrote rolling papers for each other, it was done anonymously but Seohyun was revealed

Fany: “Sones are our Genie”

Birthday party for Hyoyeon

Shinyoung unnie makes fart jokes and Taengoo keeps cracking up

Dorm in Japan with same roommates. Tiffany and Dandyu same room

ITNW ballad version with Seohyun on piano

Very kkab version of I’m Like This

What worries Yoona
1. Too much kkab
2. Health
3. Japanese

Other artists’ Songs Sunny want
1. Um Junghwa – INvitation
2. f(x) – Nu ABO (Yoona Hyoyeon does short kkab cover?)
3. IU – Marshmallow

Sang Forever at the end

Why Yuri is not doing kkab
1. Too many grave pics (The members are using Yuri’s grave pics as bookmarks, and bookmarks for Bible keke)
2. Too much kkab makes it less fun
3. Other members with bigger kkabs

Sooyoung – why my legs are long
1. It’s not that long just that other members’ are short
2. Long legs is my role in SNSD
3. Blessed genes

Hyoyeon – Why my Korean don’t seem perfect
1. I’m hasty
2. Foreign student concept
3. Lots of things on my mind

Jessica – why I do the 8-walk
1. because my 8-walk is adorable
2. I did ballet for 6 years
3. because I walk without straining
(* 8-walk is when you walk with your feet open like this \ / This kind of walk is done by someone like ‘a boss who has no fear, checking things out in the neighborhood’ It’s called 8 walk because \ / looks like Chinese character for number 8)

Seohyun – Why I think I am now older
1. It’s been 3 years since debut. And more than 3 years with Sone. It must be so hard for you to support us. Thank you~
2. When unnies are having wine they don’t leave me out anymore
3. I feel old when I look at students in uniform that I can’t wear

Tiffany – members who are ogeul ogeul (ogeul means something too sweet, too touching etc that can make your fingers shrivel and cringe^^)
1. Yuri – Even if I don’t tell other members can tell about it
2. Taeyeon – She always emphasizes subtly yet clearly on the 9 being together
3. Yoona – Too often she says I love you in that weird voice (unnie~)
* Yuri examples:
When members are chatting Yuri suddenly says “You guys are too lovable to me~ You want me to be there with some rice cakes?”
Yuri after WGM last Saturday: “Unnie made Kimchee pancakes while watching you on the show~” and takes pic of the kimchee pancakes and sends it to Seohyun

At the dorm in Japan Taengoo was sleeping and moonlight shone through a gap in the curtain. Tiffany was able to see Taengoo’s sleeping face and Taeyeon was sleeping with her eyes little open, Tiffany said she hasn’t seen that in a long time keke

The Totoro doll is Fany’s most favorite doll.
The members teased that they are going to pull out Totoro’s mustache and kidnap Totoro and send Fany the kidnapped pic and threaten her to bring $2000 ransom kekek
Fany was taking Totoro to the Japan dorm for now so the members won’t bully Totoro kekeke
Fany said Totoro was her hope when she was little~

Hyoyeon was touched that she was able to be with the fans for the birthday party for the first time and wanted to be with Sone forever and she teared up a little, saying she had been holding it in all night.

Yoona wrote on the rolling paper for Hyoyeon: “Stop punching me dude!”, and all night Kim Shinyoung was saying “dude! dude!”

Redstar Presents: When to bring the Pink Ocean?

September 2, 2010

Malaysian concert organizer, Redstar Presents are working hard to fulfill the request from Malaysian SONEs to bring Soshi to the country for a fan-meeting session after SM Entertainment declined a proposal from Redstar Presents to add Malaysia to the list of countries hosting the ITNW Asia Tour Concert back in April 2010.

In reply to fanwonder.com’s query on Twitter about the follow-up with SM Entertainment regarding the fan-meeting session in Malaysia, Redstar Presents said:

In Redstar Presents Facebook Page, a new discussion was created entitled,” If we’re going to have SNSD to Malaysia, which month you want us to color it “pink”?”. To this, most SONEs chose between September 2010 to January 2011, indicating that they are really in urgent need of Soshi.

Singapore organizer, Proof Label have confirmed the appearance of SNSD in the Korean Pop Night Concert 2010 and this further sparks interests among Malaysian SONEs to bring the girls to Malaysia. Redstar Presents have gained faith from fans especially after the successful Super Junior “Super Show 2″ back in March this year. A fan expressed faith in Redstar by saying,”Even though SNSD are going to Singapore this October, I shall wait for Redstar to bring them in to Malaysia.”

fanwonder.com is confident that we will be seeing the Pink Ocean in Malaysia very soon. So, don’t forget to come back and check out our updates often!

Malaysian SONEs, your voices are heard!

August 29, 2010

Malaysian SONEs’ love for SNSD deserves to be applauded as their continuous and determination in requesting Malaysian organizer, Redstar Presents to bring SNSD over for a fan-meeting garnered interest from media outside the country.

The article published by a Chinese media site, Guizhou Harbor entitled “Malaysian SONEs calling for Girls’ Generation” (in chinese:马来西亚Sone呼唤少女时代”) basically covered what I published on Friday. Here are the screenshots of the article.

Page 2

The article did not mention about the source of the article but those who could read Chinese would know where the article was taken from. It’s fine with me as long as it helps SONEs’ effort to bring our girls to Malaysia.
